Two Piano Pieces that I composed
on: November 19, 2005, 01:10:30 AM
I have composed two concert piano pieces called "Battlefront of Continental Soil" and "Reveal of Hidden Core"; both using Chopin Etude techniques.

Battlefront of Continental Soil (3:45)

Reveal of Hidden Core (4:25)

Since I couldn't put the full version mp3s on the other site for free-charged and non-lulu-member downloads, I'll just post the full version mp3s here.

Leave your comments on what you think about my pieces.

BoCS is quite good. I like the contrasts in it. The powerful chords near the end of the excerpt remind me more of 10-4 that Revolutionary. Is this your first composition? If so, it's quite good. I would like to see the harmonies expanded more, though.

RoHC I like less. The low bass part at the beginning of the excerpt is great, with the eight notes slowly moving into triplets, and the last four chords are very exciting. The main theme is not very welcome to my ears against the triplets, though. I would, again, like more interesting uses of the other chords in the diatonic. (You seem to use i, iv, and v most of the time)

But it is nice to see another composer who prefers tonal techniques besides myself. Keep on writin'! I look forward to hearing more.

Phil
