The Definitive FREE MP3 Thread!
on: November 23, 2005, 08:56:39 PM
This is the thread where you can post places to download free classical mp3. The only rules are that they must be LEGAL downloads, and must be real audio recordings, not midi.

I'll start the list, and update as necessary:

Beethoven
--------------

32 Piano Sonatas (128kbps) - https://www.mp3.com.au/album.asp?id=5112

Chopin
---------

Etudes, Op.10 (128kbps) - https://www.mp3.com.au/album.asp?id=5028
Etudes, Op.25 (128kbps) - https://www.mp3.com.au/album.asp?id=5790

Mendelssohn
-----------------

Songs Without Words (48kbps) - https://www.claudiocolombo.net/mendelssohn.htm

All of Mendelssohn's 'Song without Words'. Plus, LOADS of other stuff. I think it has most of the Scarlatti sonatas.

Too many to list them here...
But you can only download 3 per day and the connection is horribly slow...

If you're trying to avoid midis then you had better reomve your mp3.com Chopin etudes links, because they only contain mp3 imitations of midis.

https://classic.manual.ru/ Recordings by Rachmaninoff, Horowitz, Ashkenazy, Volodos, Argerich, Richter, Rubinstein, Brendel, Gould, Pollini, Cliburn, Pletnev, Gavrilov, and more, who I can't remember right now.
Oh, it's in Polish but even so, it's quite easy to navigate.

... Is that legal?
