Squeaky pedal- major problem?
on: November 25, 2005, 12:38:41 PM
My piano has developed a tendency to squeak when I push down the pedal. Is this a major issue or is it relatively easy to correct? The piano DESPERATELY needs to be tuned. Could that be part of the issue? Thanks!
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

It woudn't be part of a tuning issue, but if you are having your tech over soon he/she will be able to remedy it soon.

You could try to find exactly where under there the squeak is coming from.  Tell us what two types of surfaces are rubbing against each other.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I dont think this is a major problem, get a piano tuner to come out and tune it, and mention the pedals, they can adjust/fix the pedals! my digital piano is about 7 years old, the pedals make alot of noise, bump bump, squuuuuuueak squeeeeeeek bang, its annoying..

good luck :)
