Help me understand this symbol

I am an an amateur pianist teaching myself, and I hope someone here can
explain me the symbol under the d-flat in the first bar here.

The piece is Chopin Mazurka op.7 nr.3 btw.

Its very important you have to play Dflat Eflat Dflat. The best way to learn is too listen too recording and read the notes.

It is a mordent. When you play the note play Db-Eb-Db very quickly. It is like a Bach mordent. You should listen to a recording or ask your teacher if you have one. Very difficult for me to explain without showing you at the piano...

Thanks alot thats all I need to know. I have listened to recordings, but I couldnt figure out which note I should jump to. I see its just the next note in the scale.

Isn't a modernt when you drill to a lower note? In this case C Db C

But this drill is simply Eb Db Eb Db

maybe a mordent gives a sense of beat better, too?
