you can hear a lot of 'finger slap' (or keyslap) in his playing.  seems like a talented person though.  any extra noises in recordings become distracting once they are pointed out (never used to listen for them).  once a pianist finds this out, he/she will do all in their power to minimize the extra sounds coming out of the piano.  noises from keys, pedals, etc.

yes.  that's the one i listened to.  maybe those flabby pianos are to blame.  he needs an instrument inbetween a too-easy piano and medium play.  and, to keep his fingers closer to the keys.

Are you serious?  OOOOOOOOOK,  so now, sad to say, Gould with his humming should be considered a lesser pianist.  Hamelin with his chair making noise is not that good of a pianist...  How about the nails clicking on the keys with Arrau and Cziffra???  Revolting! what crappy performances these were!    ::)

He's alright, the 10/2 is wikid but I couldn't help but notice how slowly he played the Tchaikovsky octaves. Musically, I haven't heard enough of him to give an informed opinion.

The Tchaikovsky-Pletnev Concert Suite from the Ballet "Nutcracker" is a good example of his musical prowess.
