I don't know if this was a thread, at least not recently.

What do you think about the Suzuki method? I'm curious about it, and what people think. However, not interested in actually persuing it (certification as a teacher)

My understanding is that is starts off teaching by rote.

i'm very on guard about the suzuki method- i remember reading a handbook for it which stated "if one child practices 15 minutes a day and another 3 hours a day, it will take the first child 9 years to complete what the second child does in a few months" (numbers may have been slightly different)
this doesn't sit well with me at all- it paints a picture of practice as being nothing but hour-usage, which is very, very dubious.  the general gist of "more practice, more results" is all right, but practice time is just one factor of many, and he completely ignores those other factors.
