New Piano Market Statistics: Inside the Quiet Transformation of Piano Playing

unless you have been a student of one of these teachers or taken from one of their students, it would be fairly impossible (imo) to really know if you consider them successful.  just because many of their students may go on to have a career - doesn't mean they are playing correctly, or to the best of their ability.

i think it is a very personal matter - and the styles and types of teaching appeal to different students.  many famous composers switched teachers (even from famous ones) because they couldn't get along or didn't like something that they were teaching.

to me, not naming any names, the best teachers are ones that are #1 to the point, and help you overcome difficulties that you personally have.  #2 that you see results  #3 that take time to help you on your musical journey - not just with piano - but understanding music  #4 that are generally polite - but may suprise you occasionally with their own eccentricities (are human)  #5 usually have a full load of students that are anxious for a lesson too.  #6 play very well
