Argerich's Rach 3
on: December 08, 2005, 10:18:20 PM
I keep hearing tantalising hints that there's a video of Argerich playing the Rach 3 circulating the net. Does anyone know how or where I could get my hands on a copy? I'd love to see it but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Cheers,

Jas

I got a torrent of it. Didn't think it was all that great, personally.

https://rapidshare.de/files/5499910/Argerich.part1.exe
https://rapidshare.de/files/5499922/Argerich.part2.rar

Download both files to the same directory, then click the exe to extract Argerich.avi containing the entire video.

Is this the black and white or colour vid?

Thanks very much. :)
I've hit a problem, though, because I have a Mac and apparently it won't play on one. Sigh.
Oh well. It was nice of you to share!

Download VLC media player from https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (Mac version for you then) and use it to play the file. It will work :) .

Exactly. It needs viruses, spyware, the herd mentality, and artificially inflated prices due to monopolization of the software market in order to play.  :-*

Ok everyone, I have a stupid question. Point and laugh if you must, but bear in mind that I am completely computer illiterate!

Right. I have a Mac, which apparently is a problem for some reason or other (didn't understand a word of the previous post). It has Quicktime player but nothing ending in .avi will play on it. Things ending in .mpg or .mpeg do, though. So, can anyone tell me what's this .avi and if there's a way I can make it play?

How frustrating. I've wanted to see this vid for ages!

Jas

EDIT: Oh, and thanks very much, nicco. :)

Download VLC and drag .avi files onto the program's icon in the Dock. You're using OS X, right? Quicktime doesn't play .avi for the reason Windows Media Player doesn't play Quicktime. VLC is greyware.

Ah, I see. Kind of... I'll give that a go. Thanks for your help. :)

EDIT: Argh. Inevitably, it didn't go smoothly. Seemingly, my "mirror" has reached its bandwidth limit. Have no idea what a mirror is, but I clicked the thing with the UK flag... It says to try a different mirror link but they're all flags from other countries. Gah. Oh well, I'll try tomorrow if that'll make a difference!

Don't kill yourself over trying to watch this. Agerich's Rach 3 just isn't that special. I saw it about 6 months ago and I had to fight myself to not turn it off. Give me Horowitz (1951 recording) or Olga Kern any day over Agerich, at least for this piece.

I prefer the Horowitz 1951 rec, too. Bolet's is great as well. It's just sheer curiosity that makes me want to see this!
