Beethovens Moonlight Sonate
on: December 10, 2005, 04:15:28 PM
Hi...

I'd like to know if anyone can play the whole Moonlight Sonate, and how many years of piano practise it took before you were able to play it.

I'm playing the first part myself, but i'm not experienced enough to play the rest of it.

I'm assuming you mean total years of playing the piano as opposed to number of years working on that one sonata... ;D

I had been playing for 3 years when I could play the whole thing.  It wasn't perfect, but as far as just being able to play it and it being recognizable and enjoyable to hear and play, that's how long it took.

If something takes longer than a year to completely learn, then perhaps you should consider an easier sonata, or stick to the first movement of the moonlight until your technical facility develops further (the first movement is all most people recognize anyway). :)
