first upright piano
on: December 14, 2005, 05:02:02 PM
hi,
I'm playing piano for 3-4 months now, normally I play an hour everyday at my music school after college, but now I find myself in such position that I can't afford the time waste driving to it and go whole the way back, so I decided to rent my own upright piano and do the pratice at home. I've send an email to the most respected dealer in the area and he has sent me an email back with all the brands he rents and at which price:
for 45 Euro/month : Type Baltimore, Offenbach, ...
for 50 Euro/month : Type Eterna, Fazer, Bentley, ...
for 55 Euro/month : Type Yamaha, Petrof, Kawai, Linden, Callmann, ...
now the thing is, I have no clue which one has the best sound, and it is here that you guys probably can help me out
. The money is no issue, but I now that the most priciest things aren't always the best things, so..
thx on advance

Since I live in the US, and you are in Europe, I haven't heard of many of the brands listed above. The only I have experience with are Yamaha, Kawai, and Petrof. I have a Yamaha U1 at home, and it has a very good action, but slightly bright tone. The other two are good as well. If I were you, I would pick one of the above three...but try all of them and see which one you like best.
