I'm not very familiar with 20th century's pieces.  Since I'm going to buy a CD of Faure's Nocturnes, so pls recommend.
Btw, any guys buy the CD which recommended in the Penguin guide to CD?  What do you think about this guide?

Pascal Roge.

In my opinion, he possesses the most exquisite touch for the music of Faure, Saint-Saens, Poulenc, and D'Indy.

Also, Grant Johanneson, I believe he recorded the complete Faure piano music.

Vladimir Valjarevic play Faure very beautifully (Improvisation, Impromptu No. 2 Op.31, Preludes, Valse-Caprice No. 1 Op. 30, Mazurka Op.32, Fugue in A minor etc).  - Labor Record (Music of Tribute) :D

I have a CD of Pascal Roge playing Nocturnes 1-5 by Faure, and it is a very good recording. Not sure if he has recorded any of the later ones.

A few others whom you might consider are Kathryn Stott and Jean P. Collard. Please note that the composing of his 13 nocturnes spans Faure's entire career, so it's going to be hard to find ONE performer who does equally well in both the early (Chopin-like) and the late ones, when Faure developed a truly unique harmonic palette.

Germaine Thyssens Valentin.
I've heard her Barcarolles recording, and that's very good. She did a complete set of the Nocturnes too, so I expect that's good also.

Sorry, I am a little fan-stroke.  Is this the THE Jonathan Powell?  Playing OC any time soon near DC?

...and to mend for my faux pas, I like Michel Block in this repertoire.
