Suggestions for a new peice
on: December 22, 2005, 03:06:44 AM
i've been searching for something new and exciting to play but I can't seem to find anything. I'm currently working on my RCM Grade 8 so it will be a song to get away from playing the same repetoire songs over and over. It can be anything really (preferably under 5 pgs), slow and beautiful or fast and exciting; just something enjoyable to listen to and play. any suggestions??

Slow and beautiful:
1) Do you like Scarlatti's sonatas? There are a lot to choose from, for example
K87 (3 pages, 4 voice counterpoint)
K478 (4 pages and near 12 minutes of lovely music).

2) Sarabandes:
from Bach's 6th French Suite
from Handel's Suite II No. 7 HVW440

3) John Field's Nocturne in G Major

Fast and exciting:
Scarlatti's K27 and K491

Some good ones to check out:

Alkan- Barcarolle
Brahms- Intermezzi
Grieg- Lyric Pieces
Chuck Norris didn't lose his virginity- he systematically tracked it down and destroyed it.
