DRAFT!!! 2005 Piano Street Awards (not official)
on: December 27, 2005, 09:44:08 PM
Guys, i'd like us to have this 2005 Piano Forum Awards, unofficial of course.

What I'll be writing below will only be a DRAFT of this activity. So please feel free to give suggestions on the rules, awards, etc., BEFORE I FINALIZE EVERYTHING.

HERE GOES...

10 nominations for each category:

1. Most Insightful Forumer (on giving tips, theories, lessons, and any other knowledge on piano performance/teaching/repertoire/instruments etc.)

2. Best Recordings Award

3. Best Topics Award (the most creative in starting discussions)

4. Special Award: Anything But Piano Topics

RULES:

1. A forumer may be nominated in more than one, or even in all categories.
2. Nominations will close once we reach 10 nominees for each category, OR after 7 days has passed.
3. After the nominations, official polls shall be started by Crazy for Ivan Moravec for the actual votation.
4. During the actual votation, each voter can vote for only one nominee.
5. Actual votation will close after 10 days.
6. The poll results will then be opened to all, and the winners will be posted in a new topic, of which we will have the opportunity to say things about the winners: why he/she deserved it, how he/she has helped you, etc.

---------------------------------
Ok, so that's the DRAFT. Once we're all done with the suggestions/revisions, a FINAL DRAFT will be posted by me. I will then open the actual nominations in a new topic.
---------------------------------

STEPS FOR 2005 PIANO STREET AWARDS:

1. Draft and proposal (this post)
2. Final Draft (also in this post)
3. Nominations open (new post; will include official format to be copy-pasted)
4. Nominations close after 7 days (in the previous post)
4. Start of polls/actual votations. (new post)
5. Polls/votations close after 10 days- officially by Crazy for IM. (in the previous post)
6. Opening of poll results.
7. Announcement of winners (new post)

----------------------------
Ok, i know this activity will finish in the year 2006 already. but it's better late than never. i hope this will push through. then maybe next year, we can do it in November.

I have a few category suggestions:

Best Recordings may need to be divided up as this is a large category:

- Best recording of a pre-composed piece
- Best recording of an improvisation
- Best recording of own composition
- Best recording using a digital piano
- Best audio quality in a recording
- Best video recording

Other categories:
- Best advice on piano technology, servicing, and tuning
- Most insightful review of a piano brand and/or model

- Most insightful CD or Concert review
- Most insight of piano technique
- Most insight of piano repertoire
- Most insight into piano pedagogy and teaching
- Most insight into New Music and/or unknown or obscure composers
- Most detailed discussion of any one piano related topic

- Funniest Pianostreet member

...

So the Most Insightful Forumer, will be the big overall award.

Also regarding the rules, you have not stated if one can nominate oneself.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

hmmm, as much as i believe your categories are pretty much very logical, i think it's a lot of awards for such a few ACTIVE members. im trying to push here a more general approach like for the Best Recording Award, whose recordings do you find interesting and enjoyable the most? that means any kind of recording, whether it'd be a composition, improvisation or on digital piano, whatever. ask your heart whose recordings touches you the most...

as for other categories, i think it's just too much awards to think about, and the forumers might have a  difficult time nominating anyone. Most Insightful Award should go to someone whom you remember most to be very helpful.

i'm sure we can arrive at very good results even if we just stick to the previous categories.

thanks, quantum. let's have some more of this discussion and see what other forumers have to say. i will also include Funniest Forumer and add the rule of being able to nominate onself.

ANYONE WHO'D LIKE TO SECOND QUANTUM'S SUGGESTION? OR NOT? COMMENTS PLEASE... MORE SUGGESTIONS...

Isn't that a little too specific?

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.
