May I ask why you aren't considering the usual suspects, ie. Arrau, Schnabel, Gilels, Brendel, Kempff, etc.?

To be honnest there are so many recordings it is so difficult to sellect which ones to buy they all sound good on the cover, well they are are they not but if I have to buy a CD with 30 plus different recordings then I will go with peer to peer every time and root out the poo poo (Classic FM magasine has the best reviews I have seen, I don't know if you can access it but they are usualy on the money :)

I agree. Just to add Richter (Praga records) and Kovachevich (Phillips)..

And Baremboim, please.

I love Goode and don't know Roberts, so among those two ...

I know Roberts but not Goode (which I suspect should be quite good).  Roberts for me has almost ideal tempos, is sensitive without exaggerations.

I chose these two because of price. I can get the two sets on the cheaper end.

I have listened to some of the Barenboim before at school. I liked what I heard, but the set comes with a heftier price tag. I have also heard the brendel and kempff, neither of which I am the fondest of. kempff is the better of the two for my taste. Brendel seems to be timid when playing.

ok I also found a schnabel set that is in my price range. what is the sound quality on the schnabel? it says they were recorded in the 30's. If the quality isn't good, then I would prefer to go with one of the other two sets.

It depends which recording you take.
His EMI recordnig is ok, clear, but on his Naxos cd-s there are more things that you can hear in EMI box. These are small things but there are important.
(some phrases are even more beautifull..)
btw. Here in Zagreb we can by his complete sonatas (some strange company) for 15 $!
My teacher says that quality is good and performance also.

The recording quality for the Schnabel set isn't that great, also it may sound sloppier than you're accustomed to.  Schnabel is a great set for studying and if you can deal with a ton of hiss then it can be very enjoyable, but I wouldn't buy it as my first cycle.  If you do intend to get Schnabel I recommend Naxos.

There is a set on Phillips with Arrau that also has the piano concertos for about $100 that I highly recommend.  Unfortunately there's not much in terms of a cheap complete cycle that I can really recommend to you other than the earliest Brendel cycle and Kempff.   :(

Brendel recorded complete set for Phillips, but Gould didn't (I knew that he recorded Moonlight, op.31/2 and last tree sonatas)
he plays first movment of moonlight much faster and he play staccato in the middle voice!
he is little bit wierd but verry original.

To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
