How often do you practise?
on: January 04, 2006, 09:40:35 PM
just interested. I practise about twice a week. I'm not really a piano enthusiast, but I've been playing since I was 6ish, so I've never given up. I love playing, I just find it hard to get started with practising, unless I'm playing a piece I really like. what about all of you little peeps?  8)

Edit: I think I got this in the wrong part of the forum, sorry about that. But just answer anyway.

every day. most here are concerned with how much per day, not how many days.

when I practise, I play for about 3 hours. Sometimes I play every day, but it depends on my workload from college.

How long do you practise for a day? I'm just interested because I'm trying to establish a schedule to practise rather than just flinging in a few hours every other day.

I've been getting behind, but for the next year it will mostly be 4-5 hours a day.

you cant establish a schedule according to how other people practice. some people here might do 6+ hours a day. if you only practice twice a week you may not be ready for that.

try practing an hour a day. then increase  it every month or so by half an hour or an hour.

try dividing your practice into a bit of scales to start with and then the pieces after, and then some studies or whatever.
