Adjustable touch?
on: January 05, 2006, 04:11:48 PM
Does anyone knows about the (new?) model of Kawai VT132 which the touch can be adjusted?

how very cool! i think i want one. i have always liked the heavy touch of my kawaii upright at home, but notice that my teacher prefers very light pianos. maybe that's the secret to playing chopin and debussy well - which i've never seemed to do YET. i love bach, beethoven, brahms on my piano because of the heavier touch - but for speed - it's probably terrible. i never really thought about upgrading my piano until now. am really thinking about this because i know i probably can't afford a grand yet.

I saw the posts on this forum saying that how a piano tech can "adjust" the torch of a piano. I think this may be the theory of how they do it.

he means 'touch,' but that's what drew me to this thread. i thought, hmmm...is this a piano with a rocket pack? very cool piano though. i think steinways are weighted inside the keys (beds) so there isn't the messing around with the back of the action so much (is there?) i really don't know.

All high quality grands are weighed-off to produce a uniform dynamic, and static touch weight( downweight and upweight) across the keyboard. The lead weights are placed in the side of the keys, at the front of the keystick.

Sorry of the silly spelling mistakes that confused everyone.
So do you guys think the mechanism inside the piano is unique across brands?

In verticals it is. There is the MBA action used by Fazioli and the MAA action used by Petrof.

It has an adjustable touch, perfect
But i doubt that changes the actual action, it just changes touch, but not the action, so the drawbacks of a kawai for its klunky action still exists.
And its only 132 cm, so how would it sound like?
And what is the price bracket>?
