I voted for Horowitz.

I love the recordings made by Marcelle Meyer too.

Of these I voted Horowitz, Michelangeli and Perahia. I also enjoy the Scarlatti of Casadesus, and particularly Sergei Babayan. Babayan's Scarlatti is astounding, check it out!

hmm.  i couldn't find an example on amazon.  guess i'll have to get a recording (unless someone knows where to take a listen of babayan on line).

i once heard pogorelich live.  and, he played some scarlatti.  now, i forget which sonata, but it was beautiful.

Use the "find" feature, shouldn't be hard to find  ;D . If you can't find them download then again, and make sure you specify that they should be saved to the desktop. Then you can file them where you want to once you've heard them.

Horowitz, Pletnev and Michelangeli

And Balasz Szokolay of Naxos is very good also (although a bit stiff occasionally).
Fortune favours the musical.

Carlo Grante is also great, especially since he recorded a full set. Maybe there should be some harpsichordists on the list? Ross, etc... Anyway, Pletnev is my number 1 Scarlatti performer, creative, playful, wonderful sound. Horowitz would be the second choice.

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
