Casio PX-100 Privia Digital Piano
on: January 13, 2006, 06:04:36 PM
I want to know how do you qualify this digital piano, I have read some crtics and it seems to be pretty fine.
I played it some days ago, but I don't know other digital pianos to compare.

Isn't there a newer cdp-100 with the same sounds and action but cheaper?

I would have said the px-110 or px-310 might be better if you pick casio because of the improvements to the sound.

As you note, Casio appear to be getting past their "calculator / cheap keyboard" image.

At the same price bracket, there's not much, but the usual suspects, Gem, Yamaha, Roland, Kawai, Korg and so on are all worth trying.

It's fair, and certainly beats a sharp stick in the eye. It will do if you are in a pinch for funds, or just starting out. If possible, do try to upgrade your budget to the 300 level. At that point make sure you compare Yamaha, and the other barnds already mentioned.

The features the PX-700 boast are impressive as well, but I hate to break it to ya; don't buy into this series of Digital Piano's, neither the entire Casio Brand.

I admit, I havn't touched them, but I asked about them while in Sound Control (whilst trying to find the perfect Digital Piano), and they basicaly said "Don't touch them with an ELEVEN foot barge pole", and I trust them, because come off it: We are talking about the Calculator brand.

Like seeing a Rare LP on Ebay for "50p Buy Now", the PX Series might as well be the equivalent joke, I highly recommend you to go and look at other brands, like: Yamaha, Kawai, Korg etc.

Hope I managed to stray you ::)

If you can dish out, I would say the Yamaha P140, or perhaps a Kawai Model, they have the IMPRESSIVE models. If you can't dish out, a second hand Yamaha P60 (I saw one for £300 in the Friday Ads) will suffice quite well. On the other hand, a Clavinova immediately solves all "No. Of Pedal" issues, and in some cases the suppliment of speakers!

Well, finally I bought the PX-110 model. I wasn't able to spent more money. So here it is, I feel pretty comfortable with it. It has good weight, incredible sound and a nice sensibility.
Thanks for your comments.

Hey guys, what do you expect from $400..

I used to play Yamaha C5 grand....Since I move and no desire to move my grand, I am pretty happy with  PX100. It is good enough for practicing.

I agree with nyonyo...
This digital piano has an amazing sound quality! The touch is incredibly similar to a real piano and I only spent about USD 1000 (here in Argentina - prices are higher) I feel very comfortable with it.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

The only problem is that if you need to practice a lot with pedal, you may not be able to do it well. But again, it is only a $400 digital piano. By the way, I just bought a Yamaha Disklavier, because my teacher keeps asking me to correct my pedalling and it is impossible to practice on PX100.

Don't discount Casio, I've tried out all of the sub £1500 digital Pianos and IMO the Casio PX800 was the best of the bunch and can be purchased new for £499 on eBay, once I've sold my present DP I'm getting the PX800.
