It leaves a lot to be desired, but it's a good start. Any sort of self-help/learn yourself book can only go so far, a teacher needs to monitor the student and be there to demonstrate, a picture is usually worth a thousand words. I've known people who did quite well with teach yourself videos, because being able to see what is supposed to happen simplifies the whole process.
