flies
on: January 18, 2006, 05:56:54 AM
it occured to me yesterday when i was practicing, that the presence of a fly whilst playing is the most annoying thing on the planet. you quickly pause to slap it away, and then it freakin comes back! AGH!! and then i was thinking, imagine if that happened during a performance, what would you do? i've seen a couple of moths in the sydney opera house whilst the sydney symphony was playing but they just fly up towards the light so it's not that bad, but flies, man, that'd piss me right off. especially if i was in south NZ- they have GIGANTIC mutant flies there- i have never seen such massive flies in my life- ted what do you feed your flies down there??! they scared the hell out of me, if i got attacked by one of them whilst playing i think i'd run off the stage...

they do annoy the hell out of me too, so I just turn the air conditioner on really cold (sucks during winter) and they try to get the hell out of there. =)

I suppose you can always use some Aeroguard if it becomes a problem. :)

or alternatively you could just close the screen door. I think moths are worse, I'd be studying at the Nash and they would just attack me.

yeah i dunno how it managed to get into the house like our entire place is covered in flyscreens and the doors are almost permanantly shut in summer..hmm yes i was thinking of covering myself in insect repellant that might work haha

Frightened by gigantic flies, Tash ? What flies are those, I wonder ? (he said, restraining the obvious and vulgar rejoinder which sprang to his lips - no, wait a minute, the plural of that is flys) We have a number of species. There are ordinary black houseflies, there are green and bluebottles, which are somewhat fatter, there are larger black blowflies, and there is a still larger black and white striped variety with red heads. None would be more than about two centimetres long though. Are these last ones the flies you saw perhaps ? I think if you live anywhere where there are animals, particularly cattle or horses, in the vicinity, you'll never be without flies even in the winter.

oh man spiders- my mum reckons she killed a funnelweb in her bathroom the other day and is now paranoid!

flies- ted they were seriously large- down near milford sound and queenstown yeah maybe around 2cm and really really fat! compared to the usual houseflies we get in syd they were massive!!

large flys eh- yes i am quite scared- apparently high-waisted jeans are coming back into fashion and i refuse to follow it! jeans of the 80's were wrong in every way and should never face this planet again

i stayed in bluemountains, NSW for several weeks in the summer, and OH MAN, THOSE FLIES!!!! those dont seem to be affected by the insect product we had applied on our bodies before goin outta the house.

i hate mosquitos the most. and where i am now, i practice piano with them. they suck my body :o. and the itch...arrghhh..

my brother and sisters hate and scared to death by the cockroaches. those are big things and flying around too.
