Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges. Liszt's transcription of Schubert's Ave Maria
on: October 07, 2003, 07:06:04 AM
This is a great piece by Liszt but it seems to be quite unpopular.  I cannot find the sheet music to it ANYWHERE, although I did find one obscure midi file, that turns into really weird music that is nearly unreadable.  Anyone know of this piece?

I know it but it is difficult to play.  I personally think it's too thick in texture.  Dover published the complete Schubert song transcriptions Liszt made.

I love his version BECAUSE it is thick, and very elaborate.  I have a recording, though and it almost sounds like two people playing- I know that it is tough, but it sounds like two different instruments... I dont know if this is possible.  I was looking for free sheet music actually, because I dont want to buy a large book of transciptions just for one piece.
