How to determine the model
on: October 07, 2003, 07:09:35 AM
Where is the Model identification located? I searched a Baldwin grand and couldnt find any # or any indicator of its model. And what does it mean?

:)Allchopin,it should be stamped in the plate dish between the bass and tenor sections of the plate, front end by the tuning pin field. If it's not there look at the tail end of the plate to the left of the bass bridge.Depending how old it is you would see letter designations such as L,M,R,C,SC,SF-10,or D,SD-10.If the piano is older, and maybe some idiot removed the model designation on the plate during a refinish, and didn't re-stamp the plate, which is really called a scale designation, you will have to measure the length of the piano from front of the case just forward of the keys,to the rear of the lid. There have been many Baldwin scales, here are a few and their general sizes.M 5'2",R 5'8",S,SC and L 6'3", SF-10 7'0",and D,SD-10,SD10A,and SD-10B 9'0".

Ok thanks.
So it basically designates the size of the piano?
