Awkward audience
on: January 19, 2006, 11:55:49 AM
I'm looking for some advice on what sort of pieces to play to a non musical audience. They won't take kindly to anything serious, so I need a short, showy, but fun piece. I was thinking of Fazil Say's jazz fantasy after Mozart, which is short and fun, and they will recognise the theme (hopefully!) but I dunno whether they will understand some of the great chords, which will sound "wrong to them. For example, the ABbABb chord.

Any suggestions on a suitable piece?, I only have to play one piece, and on a silly electric piano, so no debussy or ravel, which I am most dissapointed about.

thanks

Hmmm...Rach preludes? Including C#minor? That's pretty short and showy, and sounds impressive and epic (if played well obviously), but on an electric piano maybe not...you could try though.
Currently learning:
Liszt- Consolation No.3
J.W.Hässler- Sonata No.6 in C, 2nd mvt
Glière- No.10 from 12 Esquisses, Op.47
Saint-Saens- VII Aquarium
Mozart- Fantasie KV397<br /

I would play FI or minute waltz. [Well, aside from not being able to play them, that is]

Or perhaps nocturne in C# minor posth.
