Chopin Etude 10-1, Bach prelude WTC 1.
on: January 25, 2006, 10:48:10 PM
Greetings.

This Chopin etude that I currently am working on(Half of the way through, Third of the way fluently up to half speed), has a very similar harmony to the Bach Well-Tempered Clavier prelude 1. It sounds very similar too. I find this extremely fascinating and with practicing I begin to realize that both sound very similar. Anyways, I just find this very interesting. :)

Yep, I doubt it's coincidence.

You think that the 10-1 etude is similar to the C Major prelude from WTC I? Try playing the Chopin opus 28-1 C Major prelude slowly and without pedal and then compare that to the WTC prelude.

Maybe that's true. However I think I'll right now focus on this etude first. ;D. Anyways the first arpeggio structure Cmajor in the first arpeggio section definately resembles that of the prelude.

It is said that this etude was based on the Bach prelude. See here: https://www.chopinmusic.net/library.php?w=Etudes#10-1

Haw about Bachs prelude in c minor WTC 1, its similar to the ocian etude 25/12, the harmony is anyway.
