Lazar Berman's 1959 recording is stunning, however in 1963 recorded the TEs in Stereo that in my opinion surpasses his 1959 recording.

I changed my mind about only including complete sets since I am so impressed with Richter's live recordings from 1956.  Richter's recording along with Berman's 1963 are my new favorites.

Arrau clearly stands out. The Phillips recording is totally amazing, too bad you can hear his rings click on the notes now and then, but of all the recordings his is so well controlled, others go over the top or underneath, his is in perfect balance all the time, amazing.
