Book of Complete Piano works by all composers... ?

Does anybody know of a book in existence that contains a record of most composers and ALL of their piano/keyboard works ?

If you can recommend one along with where I can get it, I would really appreciate that   (I did a search and couldn't find one... but I think one exists.. no ?)

I think m1469 wants a book that lists all the works of all the composers.  Not one that has the complete sheets.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any such books; although, I am confident that if you google for any particular composer, you'd find a list for them.

Not sure about 'complete' but Maurice Hinsons Hinson 'Guide to the pianist's repertoire' would be one of the closest things I could think of.

Yes, I did mean a book that has a list of their works, not the sheets themselves.  Also, I know it is impossible to get ALL composers, and that is not what I said.  I want the standards, and then some, sorry if I was unclear.   I have spent some time googling to find composer's complete works, but it is a very long process in collecting the info, which I would do if I had to.  But, if there is already a book, why not use that ?

"The pianist's Repertoire-CHOPIN- A graded practical guide" is one of the books I have.

As the title says it's only about Chopin's works but it's really good.

"It gives a complete survey of Chopin's music for solo piano, including a graded list of his works., together with detailed and constructive suggestions for study and performance "

Eleanor Bailie, the author, has written 2 more reference books one on Haydn and the other on Greig. Don't know much about them but if anyone does please share

Anyway Maurice Hinson's Guide to the Pianist Repetoire.  It is organized by composer, and he gives descriptions and the difficulty.  The ranking is "easy", "intermediate", etc rather than using number grades, but it's still very helpful.  It's on Amazon at:

It's $60 USD, ouch, but it's comprehensive.  If you have access to a university library they would probably have a copy.

m1469, note that hinson has separate guides for concertos, chamber music and transcriptions (I think, it makes no sense to me that the transcriptions would be segregated, but that is an aesthetic choice).

My local library has a copy of Grove Dictionary. That is a very good source.

I remember visiting the music reading room at the British Library in London before it moved from Russell Square. If memory serves, the index was over 176 large volumes in very small print.

That must be as close as you can get to everything.

Go to any music store and ask them if you can buy one of theire syllabuses of what is in print and their prices.  I think that might help you out a bit.
