abrsm syllabus
on: February 11, 2006, 07:46:07 PM
mtna, abrsm,  maybe if we get a few more syllabuses - we can put them all together and get a sort of listing of most repertoire.  am making a book for myself (adding to the rep. list of mtna)  seems that none of the lists is really complete.  bernhard has a thread somewhere with grade levels, too.

here's one i just found for abrsm:  www.abrsm.org/resources/allPiano0506.pdf

if you have a syllabus you want to share - please add.
some go up to grade 11-12 and others to grade 8.
does anyone have a college piano syllabus they want to share?  guess people pay for these at those summer seminars.

i know.  most teachers who've taught a long time just basically have the ideas of what's required for each level in their heads and don't need someone to tell them.  for me, i've taken a hiatus for the first two/three years with each of my children, so i get on a roll and then stop for a little bit.  i had just gotten started again with two students when i broke my leg. now, i want to get back at it again - so hopefully will get the two students back soon.  talked to one yesterday - and she hadn't found another teacher yet  :) for people like me, a little help is appreciated.  i can see when you are teaching full time - it's kind of like the back of your hand.

addressed to anyone:  do you sometimes put the level grade on the front of your own music just to remind you?  number circled?  i often try to buy the same music as my students so that i have a copy.

ps  just found a helpful thread by bernhard about grade levels - in the 'students corner'  rating of chopin prelude? question.

thanks.  i should buy hinson's book.  with the amount of money i've invested in recently buying cd's of pc, the scores of mozart's and beethoven's - assorted new pieces and some books for my children...i'm not making money.  i'm losing it.  that's what music is all about, right?  (maybe i can find this book at an estate sale if i'm lucky to find a pianists).

Prepare your wallet: it demands a hefty price! >:(

Try second hand, or ask for it as xmas/birtday/anniversary present. Start making the collection now! ;)
