Self-Immolation (including Thích Quảng Đức)

interesting, mildly

I was to see that sight again, but once was enough. Flames were coming from a human being; his body was slowly withering and shriveling up, his head blackening and charring. In the air was the smell of burning human flesh; human beings burn surprisingly quickly. Behind me I could hear the sobbing of the Vietnamese who were now gathering. I was too shocked to cry, too confused to take notes or ask questions, too bewildered to even think.... As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around him.

Yes it is.

Valentines Day is just a day to make single people want to shoot themselves. It creates a sort of divide much like the social-classical divides most evident in high school environments. As a person ages emotions tend to weigh heavier and recovery time is elongated. Suicide by immolation is not unheard up on this most holy (or poopy) day. ;D

i had to laugh at the 'emotions tend to weigh heavier and recovery time is elongated.'  it's sort of true - but yet at the same time can be more acknowledged as feelings that you know you have and not passed off as a headache.
