to me it's the other way around i don't change myself to be like them i change them to become like me.

heh, that's strange. Are they your henchmen?

I hang with different people for different reasons, certain common values. Some are just for fun, some are intellectually stimulating, some are genuinely good and we bring out the best in each other... It's important to stick to your own values, be able to have boundaries or tell a friend "no".

Though it's human nature to conform to a group. I'm sure we can think of times we've laughed at something that wasn't funny. It seems to me that the larger a group of friends get, the less they think individually, more 'groupthink'. Also more inertia, a larger group is harder to get moving.

People always influence each other, so it's good to be choosy. Ya can't be friends with everyone, even if you're likeable there just isn't enough time in the day to be friends with everyone you meet.
