HIV SCARE
on: February 15, 2006, 03:00:34 PM
I have had to deal with feelings and thoughts unimaginable to myself until 2 days ago.
my mother told me that my little 18 year old brother's girlfriend went for an hiv test and tested HIV POSITITVE(alarm bells). at this news i thought about my brother and prayed that he hadn't contracted it She says she's a virgin and must have contracted it one night when her drink was spiked and she was given heroin without her recollection or knowledge(dirty needle of course..)
my brother has been seeing her for 2 months and they have done everything with each other except proper penetrative sexual intercourse.
there was still a risk of transmission, and it's been killing me that this could happen and my brother might get get this virus from a carefully picked relationship.
i've been scared and shockled to say the very least.
at first i felt terrible for the girl, then i didnt want to see her again, because her story sounded suspect etc...
today my brother walks into my room and tells me- with a look of happiness that hasn't been seen on his face since he heard all the news- that hte girl had gone for a more advanced test today and it showed NO HIV AT ALL!!!
the first test was an instant test and they aren't 100% accurate.
i hope that she is being truthful and that the result of the last test is true.
this has been possibly the worst few days of my life, a rollercoaster ride of fear and emotions.
anyway, i hope that she and my brother are both nagative and healthy.
moral of the story- that HIV/AIDS is real. very real.
so look after yourselves people.
