Sadest piece by Schumann
on: February 15, 2006, 05:56:09 PM
In my opinion his sadest piece si Romance Op 28-2   :'(

What do you think?
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

I guess you mean sad, but if you're actually talking sadism, I'd say the toccata.  Sadistic.  :o

I guess it's not really sad, but Davidsbundlertanze makes me cry. No idea why. (Pollini plays it really well, btw. I'm dying to get hold of a recording of Cortot playing it- anyone know if one is available?)

"Chopin" from Carnival is an unbelievable piece, full of longing- and prehaps sadness.

To me, Schumann can be interpreted in many different ways, so what is to one person sad might not be so to someone else.

How awesome are Schumann's works, though. ;D

btw- it's "saddest". :P
[lau] 10:01 pm: like in 10/4 i think those little slurs everywhere are pointless for the music, but I understand if it was for improving technique
