Musical pronunciations
on: October 23, 2003, 05:15:36 AM
Some of these odd foreign names of classical composers and performers get me confused as to how to pronounce their names.  Are the following correct? :

Gyorgy Cziffra = gee-YOR-gee SIFF-ruh
Murray Perahia = MUR-ree perr-rYa
Claudio Arrau = clAWed-ee-o uh-ROW (as in "owch")
Scriabin = scrEE-uh-bin
Grieg = greeg

and miscellaneous pronunciations:
Traumerie = TRAW-mer-eye
Gymnopedie = JIM-no-pee-dee
Kreutzer = CREWT-ser
Aeolean = Ay-OH-lee-uhn
Bagatelle = BAJ-uh-tell
Estampes = es-STAMPS
leggiero = lay-szhee-AIR-oh

That is all that has posed problems so far. Thanks for anything at all ~
A modern house without a flush toilet... uncanny.
