Easyish Duets (one piano, four hands) suggestions ?
on: February 24, 2006, 04:38:22 PM
I have recently become extremely and ridiculously addicted to duets.  I have one book of duets by Denes Agay, that seems pretty good for two beginners.  I also had run across a book by Low (who the ?) of Teacher and Pupil Duets at a used bookstore, that I think are supposed to be some sort of "course" for duet playing, but they are actually kind of fun to play.   I may look into some more from him, but I am wondering if anybody has more suggestions.

I am looking for Beginner/Intermediate for two students at that level, as well as more Teacher/Pupil Duets that are not restricted to Beg/Inter. in the accompaniment portion.  Any suggestions are much appreciated  :D !! (including individual pieces suggestions)

Thanks,
m1469

Mozkowski's "Spanish Dances" are intermediate, and kids love to play them (they really are fun!)

There used to be a book in print that was very pretty visually and very "fun."

Entitled "Duets for Dinosaurs."  I have a copy.  How hard?  Perhaps Grade 3.  Just guessing.

I used to play duets with my son out of this book when he was about 12 years old.

If you want to play with your child, and you are able to locate this book, I think you will like it.

I came across Diabili's Op. 149 (Four Hands), that I think fits your needs. There are 28 pieces in progressive order.   The site below gives gives you the pdf of the sheetmusic along w/ the midi.  You have to hunt around a bit but all 28 pieces are available.  Its a free site.

Try Mozart's two sonatas K. 356 and 381
Asked if he had ever conducted any Stockhausen,Sir Thomas Beecham replied, "No, but I once trod in some."

Thanks for these suggestions  :D !  I have downloaded all of the Diabelli that I could find.  I would love to just have this thread continue going and going, so if people have more suggestions, please feel free to add.

Again, I am looking for Beginner/Intermediate Duets for two people of that same level, and then Duets that involve a primo part at that same level, but not necessarily restricted to that in the Secondo part.

Thanks,

m1469  :)
