Daniel Barenboim - Complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas

Has anyone heard this recording? What do you think of his playing of these works, and the boxset in general? Record label is EMI.

I have the box set, and I really think it's good.
Some Sonatas, you can see that it's not really musical and
wasn't interepreted very well.
He is not that famous either, but in general,
He is pretty amazing and good.
Also, he played the entire sonata and that's something.

I'm not sure what you mean that he is not that famous - he has been the conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for so long now (he just stepped down), also a famous Argentinian pianist.

His Pathetique is one of the best I've heard.

The first page of his Pathetique is unmatched on the EMI recordings from the 60s.

He means no one plays it as well as this particular recording.

Personally I prefer Richard Goode for the box set, so I recommend that one if you don't have it yet.

EMI is a record label.  It's a way to specify it's about the early recording and not the most recent one on DG.  Barenboim recorded the complete Beethoven sonatas twice.

Barenboim not famous???  For a pianist still alive, he is certainly one of the top 5 most famous.

Yup, and he is famous for all the right reasons.
