Need help - Led Zeppelin
on: March 04, 2006, 05:05:05 PM
Hey..
This hasn't anything to do with classical, but but maybe someone in here are able to help me anyway.
I need help with the piano part in Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain".
The Main riff goes in: Cmaj7 - Dmin7 - Emin7 - Fmaj7 - Amin7 - G - GII
My problem is that i don't know how to play it. It ain't the clean chords. Do anyone know how these cords are to be played??

I would also like help with the bridge, which goes in: C-F-G-C

Hi nonfox,

sorry, I can't help you in this, but I'm very interested in the songs of Led Zeppelin. Are there any sheets on the web or is there any songbook to buy?

Thanks
Hans

Well...
There is a lot of sites with chords and guitar tabs, with a lot of known bands. I found the chords of Fool in the rain on www.mxtabs.net
But it's only some pieces which has chords as well as tabs, and it don't say how they are to be played. Just like my little problem.
I think that it's only the fewest bands which publishes their sheets, cause I've never seen any songbook etc.

What album is that from?  Didn't see it in I-IV, Houses of the Holy, or Physical Graffiti.

Do you have the CD?

If so, you could use one of those slow down software programs and listen to it until you figured out all the notes.

Yes, I got the CD, but I don't have time to do that. I just wanted to hear if anyone knew it, so I could spare some time.

Hi!

ok...im not sure if this is what you were asking but this is how I play those chords:

Cmaj7 - G, B, C, E with a C in the bass

Dmin7 - C, D, F, A with a D in the bass

Emin7 - B, D, E, G with an E in the bass

Fmaj7 - C, E, F, A with an F in the bass

Amin7 - G, A, C, E with an A in the bass

G - G, B, D with a G in the bass

GII - G, B, C, D with a G in the bass

I don't listen to too much Led Zeplin though, so....lol

Hope this helped and sorry if I didn't really answer you question!

Charlotte

It ain't the clean chords.

It is actually uncommon for chord symbols in popular music (as well as jazz, most notably) to actually show the whole picture.  A basic part of jazz theory that you should learn which will help teach this is about "chordal tension".  This will outline specific notes that are commonly added to chords to give them a wider variety of coloristic options.
For example, in a min7 chord, 9s and 11s are often used.
In an dom7, b9s...in a Maj7, #11...

This should help you figure out what they're actually playing in that recording.   :)
