alkan scherzo diabolique
on: May 27, 2002, 09:14:39 AM
Great peice....there's something strange at the end, though. During the last repeat of the theme and sub-themes, coming down the homestrech, Alkan decides he wants it ALL pianissimo. It seems in complete contradiction of the character of the peice(diabolical, of course) Is anyone familiar with this peice and its aformentioned oddity? Is Alkan trying to employ some kind of metaphorical resolution? I'm confused.
