In Prokofiev's 6th sonata, 2nd mov., what is the best method to get the LH arpeggiations legato while keeping the RH staccato? I suspect pedaling is necessary for the 1.5-octave jumps in LH, but it muddles my RH. Any advice from someone who's played this? Is it some sort of flutter-pedal?
I've played this sonata , all you can do is practising left hand to be able to play jumping arpeggios in time :| Well, I know it's very hard but there's no other way about it like different fingering or whatever ..
Have you ever listened Richter's recording of this sonata ? If you have, then you noticed he's cheating on them a lil bit

Do not use any pedale there because there are staccato chords on the right hand .I can tell you some practising techniques about it, hope it works on you too:
1- Deplacément (2 hands&in tempo)
a) Try playing only 1st and the last (G and C
for the first bar) note on the left hand
b) Play only 1st ,4th and the last note (first G,G and C )
2- Play only left hand and sing the melody on the right hand (c,d,e,f,e,e,e,f,e,f,c etc ...)
3- When you play, always keep your wrist low to play them legato .
Good luck !
