Have you ever eaten dog or cat food ?
on: March 24, 2006, 02:49:40 AM
I think I tried a crunchy cat food when I was young.  I was a curious little girl.  I don't think I ever tried any doggy foods though... and I have never tried any soft foods for either one.

C'mon, just admit it  ;D

ps-  I think I tried bird food once... not so long ago either  :-[

I got pretty busted for that one.   :-[

I was rather lubricated at a cast party for "Guys and Dolls" about 9 years ago. Incidentally I decided when I shut the pit down that night ( I was musical director/conductor) that I was going to end that part of my career right then and there. It was such a good production every performance of the run was extraordinary, I was shifting the focus of my music back to the piano and I deciced I would quit something while I was at the top of it, end a life/career phase on a high note.

And so in a great mood I went to the cast paty and got sloshed, and soon hungry; I found a box of "Milk Bone" dog biscuits on top of the fridge as I was getting yet another beer, and started devouring them. They were pretty good, y'all oughta try 'em sometime.  ;D "Adelaide" joined in too, soon there were no dog biscuits left.

I woke up on the floor in a corner clutching the box in the morning. Ah to be sort of young again, and to eat dog biscuits....  8)

I've tried both dry foods as well. It was alright, nothing too special. Always thought the wet stuff looked delicious, but a little to mysterious so I decided not to...

I once made my little brother eat a few handfuls of grass, got in some trouble when he later puked it up :o. Another time, during summer at a carwash he got thirsty so I told him to drink what was on the road. Out he goes, slurping runoff out of the gutter.

ahhhh, good times. (for me ;D)

I woke up on the floor in a corner clutching the box in the morning.

Hahah, excellent! ;D

I woke up on the kitchen floor once too... Had a pingpong ball with a smiley-face taped to my head. What I was proud of though, is making it to school on time, considering the distance I had to walk to get home.

It smells revolting, makes me wrench and my eyes water every time I feed the cats. I have to look away in the other direction. I could never ever contemplate touching my lips with it, and if I ever saw anyone doing it I would throw up. Infact even thinking about it for that matter

I just saw a program on Food TV cable channel.  The entire program had to do with manufacture of pet foods.

One segment of the program showed the production line for preparing dog biscuits -- you know, the kind that look like imitation bones?

Anyway, it showed a couple of women who test the product on the assembly line by picking up an occasional biscuit and biting off a corner -- chewing it and eating it.

They said that taste is important, and there's no way to discern taste without some human tasting it.  I mean, there's no machine or anything that can evaluate "a good taste."

Interesting!

I eat a few pieces of my cat's cat food every now and then. Not enough to actually constitute a human sized snack portion, just a few pieces. I dunno why, its got a nice salty crunchy taste to it.

Someone should market "human cat food" that tastes like cat food but passes FDA approval for human consumption or something. hahaha

yep. Cat food, dog food and bird food, even fish food. bird food is the most delicious, made of chacenuts(but, quite expensive, compared to human snack, 20 USD a small pack)

do anybody know what does pet food make of? read "food pets die for", by Ann N. Martin(this essay can be found in 75 readings, published by McGraw Hill), you'll be terrified away and don't dare to try anymore, even for you pets....

The idea of people eating dog or cat food fills me with disgust. What a waste! There are dogs and cats starving in Africa :'(

Our cat used to go crazy over these cat treats, so I tried one just to see what all the fuss was about.  They weren't that yummy to me.  i don't get it.

dog drops?  don't you think that's going too far?

martha stewart once had a show on making dog biscuits and if i remember right - she was saying - 'oh, they're fit for human consumption' and bit the corner off and chewed it.  at least you'd know what was in it, i guess.

Not knowingly!?!? But........I have tasted some pretty dodgy student quisine which may or may not have had some decidedly iffy meaty substances in it as its principal ingredients which certainly resembled in regard to taste, texture and SMELL cat food!
