I hope I am not posting this too late, but TONIGHT (Sunday Ap. 2) there is the premiere of a six-part series called "Encore! with James Conlon" on PBS:

thanks for posting this!  i missed yesterday - but will try to catch the rest next weekend.  as i see it, the two ideas that are presented in each post are not necessarily conflicting, but for some performers one becomes more pronounced than the other.

I watched the first episode "Dionysis or Apollo" last night.  I didn't enjoy it really... I think the clips that were shown werent really representational of what Conlon was trying to get at. 

I also didn't like that guy who was playing -the one with the unibrow and the long hair- .  He had that stupid smile on his face that made him look like he had to pee really bad all day, and then he finally reached the urinal just in time...... ahhhhhhhhhh :)               ......as he was performing.

maybe next week will be better..
