Was Debussy ever a conductor??

I found a drawing in kids' music book of Debussy conducting.  I don't ever remember him being mentioned for conducting anything.

I recall reading that he despised conducting and playing the piano (always his own works) in public, but did it anyway for the $$$ because people wanted to hear him interpret his music.

and he needed the money because bardac's uncle disinherited her (so debussy had to make some money for himself conducting his own works - even though he disliked it).
