Repertoire for left hand
on: April 19, 2006, 09:21:35 AM
I have used the search function for this, but there is not much about repertoire for training the left hand. So my question is what are good pieces for training the left hand. I am around grade 7 but it is usefull for everybody so just say everything that comes in your mind so we can make a list  :) And sorry for my english  ;D

Chopin - Revolutionary Etude

Moszkowski - Etude no.2 in G minor

Prok, Ravel, Britten - Concerto for left hand

Beethoven - Pathetique Sonata (tremolo left hand, RELAX!)

Invictious - Tarantella by pieczonka, arranged by me, i will post up the sheet music some time, with dramatic octaves, big leaps on the left hand

Drills - (trills, chromatics, THIRDS, normal runs, arpeggios, broken chords etc)

Blumenfeld - left hand etude

Rubinstein - Melody in F (left hand leaps)

Joplin - e.g. the entertainer, maple leaf rag - jumping left hand

Some of the pieces are too difficult for you, then just do the left hand

Thats all i can think of right now.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

What about the Godowsky Chopin Etudes - if those don't train the L.H., I don't know what would!

Bartok wrote an etude for the left hand alone that is a very interesting piece of music.  It's fairly long for an etude, though, around 20 pages.
