Chopin Etudes worth playing?
on: April 26, 2006, 12:44:41 AM
I am wondering, given all the music I am playing, if the etudes are worth learning.
I can play through Bach's WTC and some of the partitas, all of the Beethoven sonatas, some Rachmaninoff preludes, and lots of other Chopin pieces (ballades, nocturnes, preludes, and even the third sonata).
By this I mean, are the etudes worth it from a musical standpoint? I have no aspirations of pianistic virtuosity, but very much enjoy my 3-4 hours of daily playing.
Thanks!

The Chopin Etudes are revolutionary when it comes to studies, and even musically, presenting an early form of syncopation in one of these, and many different forms of sounds. With your repertoire, the Chopin Etudes would look like a great choice.
