Video: Chopin Prelude No.4

I did this today at school. I dont play this fast as others do. Umm the file was kinda too big for this website, so i had to convert it with this program, it made the vid out of sync with the audio and cuts the vid short about 15 seconds.But i think necessary part of the piece is covered.
Comments and/or advice on how to improve is greatly appreciated

Is the file that you saved on your computer in sync?  If so, it may be that YouTube is doing it.  I had similar issues with that site.  The issue was resolved by hosting it on Google Video.

One comment I have is that you shouldn't speed up so much in that one place.  Make it louder, but louder doesn't mean faster.

My computer the vid is in sync,no clue as to why its like that youtube.It did the same thing on Googl Video too .

true, my teacher told me to speed up a bit on that particular part,but maybe i went over board  with it.

You have a nice left hand/right hand control for this piece (left hand nice and soft, the right hand clear and a bit louder for the melody), nice job!


I do have to admit that I don't really like your interpretation of this piece, but that's more a matter of taste.

in my opinion quite good, but try to add some rubato (not too much), and put more feelings into it

Thanks,, that was what i was going for in softness, and i will work on the volume for the melody....That wasnt really my interpretation, i actually just played it as is ,my teacher told me not do that quite yet for this piece ...When i get things together maybe i'll post another with my interpretation.

True, I had to say it in a different way. You do play like "it is", or "like it should be played". Let's say, I like this piece better with more rubato (I really like the way Sergio Tiempo plays this piece).

To my opinion there should be a bit more rubato in the piece, like others already told you. Maybe abit faster would be harmfull either. At the moment it sounds like you played it with a metronome

is that a digital piano you play on? Maybe there's not much hope for improvement then!:-) I don't know how much control one is able to have on one of those...

Because, in truth, you need to make this piece sing!
The left hand needs to be way softer, like something gently floating ahead on water. Almost as if you would not be able to distinguish each "attac" on the chords. Now they sound a bit like someone strumming a guitar. You make the piece sound much too slow because we hear each chord to well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the time signature alla breve? That means we should hear each bar in two! As of now, we hear "1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and", actually 8 in a bar. Try counting it in two, and you'll see! "1---2---".

Right hand, well, you need to look ahead and play it as a veeery long melody! Isn't there a slur from first bar to, I don't know, bar 8 or something? Imagine a singer sith super-lung capacity, taking all that in one breath!

I think that you are well prepared to inject this piece with attempts at musical mastery now, everything sounds clear and in order (misplaced changes of speed, though!). Hope this was helpful!
