Tchaikovskys Nutcracker Suite - Level?
on: April 29, 2006, 08:13:45 PM
Hi....

I've been listening to Tchaikovskys Nutcracker Suite the last couple of days, and I would like to learn The second movement of it. It's probably the easiest part of that Suite, but I don't know what level it is....
I'd guess that it is about 5-6 but I'm not sure at all...

Does anyone know what level it is?

are you talking about the Pletnev arrangement or the Siloti (I think?) arrangement.
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

i'm not sure what level 5-6 means... the work is pretty difficult, and not just technically. it's a fabulous transcription of a symphonic work, which means you have to try to keep the orchestra version colours - and that's not exactly easy when you have to juggle two or three orchestra sections...

for me, the chinese dance was the most difficult technically, and the intermezzo was the overall most difficult.

best luck
