on: May 19, 2006, 08:39:40 AM
Here is a video of the Prelude and Fugue in G major from Book II of the WTC:

I am only practicing it; I did not complete working on it with my teacher.

You are 8 years old, plays everything jamie_liszt says you do, and very importantly, you write good English. I think you'll grow into a good adult.  :)

Very good quality video.  It's impressive to see you play so well.

Maybe we'll see you on the Queen Elisabeth Contest in Brussels in 2015 or 2019.  Meanwhile keep learning and practicing !

I have never heard about Queen Elizabeth's contest. What is that? Actually, I don't compete in music -- and neither did Gould. I am a Gould fan too.

Good for you Ariel!  I don't compete in music either.  People get so caught up in trying to "prove" themselves instead of just accepting that they can only do their best, and it doesn't matter if their best is better than someone else's.  Music is for sharing, not comparing.

I really enjoyed watching the video, very nice playing! Thanks for sharing it!

I wish you all the luck in the future, especially as a pianist.

Also, great to hear you don't compete in music, I respect that. I really like this comment of Serg Van Gennip about competing: "Music will never be a sport in which the creations of us interpreters can be compared"

Glenn Gould participated in at least one competition - I don't know which one - and won it * surprise surprise *

You are very talented. It's great for children to play lots of Bach. Too many kids saturate themselves with Chopin (and play it poorly) and ruin their technique before it's properly formed.
