Eurovision Young Musician 2006
on: May 22, 2006, 10:44:24 AM
As you may or may not know, there was also a European version of the Young Musician contest, held in Vienna. All 7 finalists had to play a movement from a Mozart concerto. Did anyone watch it?

I thought that the Cellist was the best, as he had such freedom in his playing and had a fantastic technique (my instincts were right - he won the comp.). The 12 year old pianist had a fantastic technique and he won 3rd place. If he had chosen a movement which had more expressive qualities,I'm sure he would have came 2nd or even 1st (he was 3rd).

The first thought I had about the contest was "what? How can they compare players of different instruments?"

I still don't get it. Isn't it difficult enough to compare players that play the same instruments? :O

the cellist was a bit of a cocky coont, the way he looked just rubbed me the wrong way.

the best technician was the 12 yr old russian piansit, great fingers.

Yeah, it was like he was having an orgasm at the climax of each phrase, but he was still head and shoulders above the rest though.
