If you look around - there are (very few!) piano players of less than 100ys age. So it must be possible.

You think you have it bad?

Itzhak Perlman complains that it's much, much harder to learn violin as compared to the piano.

From the beginning, says Itzhak, aspiring pianists like us can tinkle out little tunes on our instrument of choice, but not on Itzhak's. He had work to very long and very hard before he got any satisfactory sounds from his fiddle.

Why don't you get a copy of  The Art of Piano? It's very inspiring. So is The Art of Violin. I lent both those CDs to relatives down Baltimore way about a year ago.

And they still have them, dammit!   :D :D :D

And it gets worse for poor Itzhak...

In the DVD, The Art of Violin, Mr. Perlman was one of the commentators. Which would seem eminently fitting; after all, he's one of the most outstanding violinists of this era, right?

Well, in this same DVD, during an interview of one of the high muckymucks in the world of Violin, this authority dismisses the current crop of virtuosos with, "There are no great violinists today."

Must have made Perlman's day.
