I have it with Brendel (1970´s recording)
I love it. The way he plays the second movement is amazing
If you need the recording send me a PM.

The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

I have a CD of Brendel playing Op. 90 and above - although I'm not his biggest fan, I think his late Beethoven sonatas are masterfully done. I would recommend Brendel's recording if you don't have it.
Op. 90 is a great sonata too. Good luck, if you're working on it!

I really enjoy Richard Goode. He really gets the most out of the lean first movement, and I love what he does with the development. It's quite a beautiful sonata on the whole, isn't it?

I played it five years ago or so - I was too young for it back then, and I never quite finished the second movement (though I got through the first). I intend on returning to the piece sometime when I've tackled some other repertoire on my long, long waiting list.
As far as Beethoven sonatas go, it's probably one of the easier ones to do an "ok" job with, and I think it's a good piece for gaining a better understanding of Beethoven's music when his other late sonatas are still out of reach (in terms of technical difficulty). However, my teacher was perpetually dissatisfied with how I played it, and if I heard a recording of myself from back then, I too would probably dislike my own playing. But I'm still happy I learned the piece - makes me want to go back to it even more later on.
I haven't heard that particular recording of Goode's, but I've liked his recordings of some of the other sonatas. I imagine his recording of Op. 90 would be of similarly high quality.

That was very well put! I have to steal that sentence from you whenever anyone asks for an "easy" piece by any of the greats!
Ín my opinion, whichever recording you end up preferring, I'd say that listening to Artur Schnabel's first movement is a must! Such complete absorbtion of Beethoven's spiritual depth as he achieves here, is not to be found anywhere else by anyone else...
