Tempo of speed Terms?
on: June 07, 2006, 05:09:56 PM
My teacher says I try to play everything too fast. So I would like to ask, when you see, for example, Moderato, how fast do you go? Do you have like a set tempo for moderato eg. maybe 60-70 bpm (using a mentronome).

It depends on the piece.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Like Kelly_Kelly said, it depends on the piece.  There is no metronome marking for maderato, but keep in mind that it means moderately, neither fast nor slow.

Greetings.

You are supposes to know what is too fast and what is too slow. Before, I used too not keep the rhythm constant in the piece and my teacher always corrected my desultory rhythm ways. I know what is my practice tempo and I know personally how hard it is to keep it slow. This especially aplies for me in my Moszkowski's second etude in g minor. I used to speed through it when I wasn't ready and had acarpous results. However, with constant practicing in a slow manner it is getting more steady and confident.

 "  I wasn't ready and had acarpous results. "

"Acarpous" is a very arcane word. I don't think I ever saw it before. I learned a new thing today.  :)
It means: fruitless or not producing results.

Heh heh. You might have noticed my post in the Xenakis thread in the Audition room. Please ignore it I was a bit out of my mind there.
