Ok Alistair, I won't go and ask you...  but since you mentioned it yourself (without me saying anything about it first) I have to say that that would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!!!            but of course I won't ask you... I'm just saying it would be really really cool you know!?...    I mean you wouldn't need to do it right away, you could take as much time as you would need... even till next year (when I'll have this important decade and a half birthday, see the "What's on your mind thread" for more information; even though i don't feel that old yet but whatever)... So you see I didn't go and ask you anything, I just let you know that it would be sooooooo cool !!!!!!!!!      that's all

Although your other food items look wonderful, this sounds particularly amazing;  I don't even know what a skate wing is!  I can't fathom even attempting using fish in a pie.  Is this a British thing, along with your other postings?

I am not British, but a third generation New Zealander. However, skate might well be used in pies in Britain; it isn't a specifically New Zealand recipe as far as I know. My wife frequently makes pies out of whatever fish or meat is left from the previous night. I suspect many people around the world do a similar sort of thing.

The large, soft, fleshy wings are thick and delicious. They don't have as strong a flavour as some fish, and that is probably why, like shark, they are much cheaper than more popular species. But this doesn't matter if it is cooked with tasty ingredients.

They were indeed delicious, and two are left for lunch today. Not sure about the leaves, but the first kingfisher of spring was calling in the avocado tree this morning. Perhaps eating the pasties caused that. Come to think of it, daylight saving started today too. Powerful things, pasties.

I don't exactly know what it is. 

But when I went to the restaurant, there was this thing that looked like a pancake on everyone's plate, and all of the food was in the center of the table.  So I was sitting there all ackward because I didn't know how to eat it.  Then this one kid was like, 'hey bro, that pancake thing on your plate is your fork' and I had no idea what he was talking about.  So I sat there watching everyone else eat and I realized that You use the pancake thing to eat.

It's pretty cool, you grab the food with the pancake thing and then eat it.  Sorry, I forgot what it was called.  And I don't remember any of the food names. 

Some people might think of that as unsanitary, but whatever dude. 

If there's an Ethiopian restaurant/joint around where you live, you should definitely try it out.  Unless if you have a low tolerance for spicy food because etiopian food is typically spicy.

I wondered if I could eat coffee beans.  So I got some.  And they're not too bad.  Smaller than I thought and they just crunch and break apart.  And they're easy to eat.  I ate a handful.  And then I looked it up online and a site says 6-7 beans is equal to one cup of coffee.  So one handful.... It's starting to kick in now.
